Airbnb has introduced a new category of stays named Icons, which features unique and immersive experiences in some of the world’s most iconic settings. The launch collection includes 11 experiences, each priced under 0, with many being free. Among these is a fantastical stay at the house from the animated movie Up, complete with balloons and a mid-air suspension. Other highlights include an exhilarating night at the Ferrari Museum, which offers a lap in a 296 GTB, and a stay at Prince’s famed residence from the movie Purple Rain .
These special stays are affordably priced, with most being offered for free and none exceeding 0. The booking process itself adds an element of excitement: as a countdown timer ticks down, prospective guests can request bookings through the Airbnb app. Those selected are awarded a digital golden ticket, a nod to the golden opportunities these stays represent. With more than 4,000 such experiences available until the end of 2024, Airbnb aims to provide greater access to these unique offerings compared to their limited promotional stays in the past.
