Roborock has unveiled a groundbreaking addition to its lineup of robot vacuums with the Saros Z70, which features a foldable, five-axis robotic arm capable of moving obstacles like socks and toys out of its path while cleaning. This innovation, called OmniGrip, allows the Z70 to lift and reposition items under 300 grams, making it the first robot vacuum that not only cleans floors but also tidies up spaces. Using advanced sensors, cameras, and AI, the Z70 maps objects during its initial cleaning pass, moves them during a second round, and can even place them in designated spots in a third sweep, all controlled through Roborock’s app.

The Saros Z70 boasts cutting-edge technology, including StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, which enhances navigation and obstacle recognition using 3D sensors, RGB cameras, and machine learning. It can identify 108 preprogrammed objects and learn up to 50 more via the app, even helping users locate misplaced items like a purse or toy. Its obstacle avoidance capabilities are further refined with the new VertiBeam system, designed to navigate around cables and irregular furniture shapes.

In terms of cleaning performance, the Z70 delivers an impressive 22,000Pa of suction power, dual anti-tangle roller brushes, and spinning mops that can lift to avoid carpets. It pairs with Roborock’s Multifunctional Dock 4.0, which offers features like auto-emptying, water tank refilling, and hot water mop washing. With a slim profile of just under 8cm, the Z70 can clean hard-to-reach areas like low sofas and high-pile carpets, aided by its AdaptLift chassis for tackling room transitions.

Roborock has also introduced the Saros 10R and Saros 10, offering alternatives for consumers seeking premium cleaning capabilities without the robotic arm. The Saros 10R shares many features with the Z70, including StarSight 2.0 and a similar docking system, but has slightly lower suction power at 19,000Pa. The Saros 10, an upgrade to the S8 MaxV Ultra, incorporates lidar navigation, retractable design, and VibraRise mopping technology for enhanced stain removal. Both models will launch on February 10th at $1,599.99.

All three new models are set to support Matter 1.4 for seamless integration with smart home platforms, including Alexa, Siri Shortcuts, and Google Home. While the Saros Z70’s arm is a slower and more niche feature, its potential to revolutionize household cleaning and tidying is undeniable, offering a glimpse into the future of smart home technology.
