In 1964, “Goldfinger” introduced the world to one of the most iconic vehicles in film history – the Aston Martin DB5. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of this James Bond classic, Agora Models has unveiled a limited edition 24ct gold-plated 1:8 scale model of the Aston Martin DB5, complete with the legendary gadgets designed by Q.
This exquisite model, which costs £24,999 ($29,999; €29,999), is a marvel of craftsmanship and precision. Limited to just seven units worldwide, each model is a faithful recreation of the original Goldfinger DB5, featuring over 500 parts. These include an ejector seat with a removable roof panel, twin front-mounted Browning machine guns, a bulletproof rear screen, tire slashers, oil slick jets, revolving number plates, and more. The attention to detail extends to the laser scanning of the original vehicle to ensure every feature is accurately replicated.
Crafted in collaboration with Eon Productions and Aston Martin, the scale model begins with a body made of 24 ct Fairmined gold, worked by specialists in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Each model is intricately assembled, with the option for buyers to either purchase a self-build kit or a fully assembled version crafted by the artisans at Agora.
The gold-plated DB5 will be available for purchase exclusively through Agora Models’ website on James Bond Day, October 5, 2024, marking another significant date as October 5, 1962, saw the release of the first 007 film, “Dr. No.” Interested buyers are advised to act swiftly, as a deposit of £9,999 is required to secure one of these limited-edition models, with the balance due by January 1, 2025.
Each model also comes with a protective display case, a limited-edition plaque, and a certificate of authenticity, ensuring that collectors not only own a piece of cinema history but also a remarkable work of art that celebrates one of the most recognizable cars ever featured on the big screen. With deliveries expected to start in the summer of 2025, this collector’s item promises to be a jewel in the crown for any serious Bond connoisseur.
