The latest collaboration between Bulgari and MB&F brings a striking new interpretation of the iconic Serpenti, blending high horology with avant-garde aesthetics. First introduced in 1948, the Serpenti has long been a hallmark of Bulgari’s design philosophy, and for this second partnership, it takes on an entirely new form, drawing inspiration from both automotive and sculptural influences.

The Bulgari x MB&F Serpenti is a horological machine unlike any other, requiring a complete redevelopment of its mechanics and case construction. Hundreds of sketches and numerous 3D prototypes were necessary to achieve its final design, which offers a different perspective from every angle. The case, which measures 39mm in width, 53mm in length, and 18mm in thickness, showcases an intricate curvature inspired by the sleek lines of a sports car. The influence of automotive design is unmistakable, with the watch’s double crowns at 11 and 1 o’clock resembling wheels and its domed sapphire windows mimicking the rear windows of a car.

Beneath the sapphire crystals, the manually-wound movement is a feat of engineering, closely based on MB&F’s HM10 Bulldog but adapted specifically for this creation. At its heart is a suspended 14mm flying balance wheel, beating at 2.5Hz, and held in place by four traditional regulating screws. The movement features domed hour and minute displays, crafted from lightweight aluminium and treated with Super-LumiNova for a luminescent effect that mirrors the hypnotic gaze of a serpent. A power reserve indicator adds to its functionality, while the entire mechanism is housed within a case offering 30m water resistance.

The Bulgari x MB&F Serpenti is available in three limited-edition versions, each restricted to just 33 pieces. The 18K rose gold model features vibrant green domes, the grade 5 titanium variant showcases blue domes, and the black PVD-coated stainless steel version presents striking red domes. The case’s sapphire windows, including those positioned as the serpent’s eyes, are coated with an anti-reflective treatment on both sides, ensuring crystal-clear visibility of the movement beneath.

Completing the timepiece is a hand-stitched rubber strap equipped with a Velcro system, ensuring both comfort and a secure fit. This watch is as much a wearable sculpture as it is a technical marvel, pushing the boundaries of watch design while paying homage to Bulgari’s heritage. With only 99 pieces available in total, the Bulgari x MB&F Serpenti stands as an exclusive collector’s piece, priced at $148,000 for the titanium and black PVD versions, and $170,000 for the rose gold edition.
