OMEGA has expanded its Seamaster collection with the introduction of the Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer, bringing the worldtimer complication to the Planet Ocean lineup for the first time. This timepiece follows the aesthetics of the Planet Ocean Deep Black, featuring a 45.5mm black ceramic case paired with a black ceramic bezel that has a polished, laser-ablated diving scale. Retaining the 600m water resistance of the collection, this model merges deep-sea capabilities with a functional worldtimer feature, offering an elegant yet technical addition to OMEGA’s portfolio.
At the core of this timepiece is a grade 5 titanium depiction of Earth, positioned at the center of the dial. This detailed world map is surrounded by a transparent 24-hour ring, divided into black and white sections to indicate day and night. The outer dial includes a city ring displaying major global locations, with an interesting departure from the traditional GMT+1 reference, as OMEGA replaces Paris with its hometown of Bienne. The hour chapter ring features a subtle honeycomb pattern applied through laser ablation, and large applied markers filled with Super-LumiNova ensure optimal readability. A date window is positioned at 6 o’clock for added functionality.
Maintaining the signature elements of the Planet Ocean collection, the watch includes twisted lyre lugs, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, and broad arrow hands. It features a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, a ceramic screw-in crown, and a NAIAD-lock caseback that ensures proper orientation. The transparent caseback reveals the in-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8938, certified by METAS, offering a power reserve of 60 hours through its twin-barrel construction. The movement incorporates a silicon balance spring, free-sprung balance, and OMEGA’s Co-Axial Escapement, providing resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 Gauss.
The Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer comes in two versions. One features turquoise accents, with brushed grey PVD-coated hands and indices filled with white Super-LumiNova, complemented by a black strap with turquoise stitching. The other has a more subdued grey varnish scheme, using polished black PVD-coated hands and indices filled with OMEGA’s new grey Super-LumiNova, paired with a two-tone grey-black strap with grey stitching. Both straps are made of structured rubber with matching inner linings and are secured by a foldover clasp in brushed ceramic and ceramized titanium.
With a case diameter of 45.5mm, a thickness of 17.4mm, and a length of 52.4mm, this is a substantial watch that remains comfortable on the wrist, thanks to its lightweight ceramic construction. Weighing just 143 grams, it maintains a balanced feel despite its large dimensions. The integration of a worldtimer complication does not compromise its dive-ready functionality, making it a compelling option for those seeking both an adventure-ready tool and a refined travel companion.
